Whas the best value, loud outdoor speaker system compatible with NON-ipod MP3 players. must have a 3.5mm stereo input jack.
I have very good speakers called iScream… they can be used for anything really, it even works for my mobile phone! I think you can buy them from HMV in different colours… or off eBay real cheap! But not too sure about the size of the input jack though… but good luck 
I have used large speakers outside with a large loose fitting plastic bag over them.
I recently bought JBL speakers from John Lewis sound quality from them is really good, there quite expensive but worth it. they just act as any headphones would as they would plug in where the headphones do on your mp3 and will output the sound. they work with anything, your computer, tv, any kind of mp3 players. they look small but produce a really loud sound! I would recommend them.
